A university is a place where you might expect to find something you feel passionate about in your life. As an academic institution, it is also a place that offers you ample knowledge and disciplines established in different areas of study.

In our long life, we need and want to devote ourselves to various issues, exposing ourselves to fascinating and challenging circumstances. When we come across difficulties then, it is our wider perspective, flexible mindset, and openminded attitudes that help to find necessary breakthroughs, overcome the stasis situation, and go beyond our expectations.

As a historian by training, I do research, examine, and write what I find crucial and interesting by following what I learnt from many predecessors in my field of study around the world. As an academic, I pride myself on being active in my field in that way, but what enriched my life as an historian was the fact that I did not confine myself to the narrow area of ‘history’ alone, but studied other subjects including art, economics, and sociology, increasing not only my knowledge and broadening my perspectives, but also learnt the way in tackling the study subjects. Looking back my own life, I believe that it is important to set up the appropriate learning environment where you can gain and grow to the upmost.

The four-year program in GLAP (Global Liberal Arts Program) stands out in three points and they will enable you to be more active and successful in your life.

Liberal Arts Education

This is an educational setting that is unique in that it provides not only a wide range of subjects of study, but also various learning skills and perspectives. In the process of four years of studying, you will be exposed to different topics, and encouraged to tackle various subjects employing diverse knowledge and learning skills. Studying in the Liberal Arts Education environment will allow you to be more versatile and capable in dealing with difficult issues and problems both socially and academically.

Global Leadership Program (GLP)

A series of GLP offers you the unparalleled opportunity to understand the values required to be a ‘true’ global leader. By immersing yourself in this program, you will build the appropriate mindset and personality to play significant roles in setting up links among various people, institutions, societies, and cultures. In our present global world, everything is constantly moving from one place to another and people are exposed to unfamiliar environments, ideas, and customs. Circumstances as such undoubtedly broaden our views, making us realize how important it is to bear unrestricted judgements. Unfortunately, the situation also persuades some people to be more exclusive and even intolerant towards the unknown world. In order to overcome those negative outcomes and create an environment in which no single cultural value will be superior to others, GLP leads you to understanding the responsibility essential in this global age.

Study Abroad

Modern society has enriched our lives with many tools and opportunities, letting us know of the faraway world. However, the ‘realities’ can only be acknowledged by seeing and experiencing for ourselves. This also applies to education. It may be possible to learn what professors and experts say on the internet, but it is also worthwhile immersing yourself in real lectures and classroom activities. Academic works stand on the regulations, disciplines, and understandings universal to those working in particular fields anywhere in the world. Nonetheless, our ideas and behaviour are often affected by traditions specific to the local environment. The Study Abroad program will offer you the opportunities to absorb diverse values, thoughts, and views in different places and of different people around the world, thereby allowing you to be more competent in this changing world.
